A major part of the parish council structure includes a system of committees. These committees are the major working bodies of the Parish Council. They are the backbone of the council’s effectiveness because they are established to broaden the base for dialogue and for parishioner representation and participation in the mission of the Church. Committees are made up of parishioners whose unique talents and interests are especially suited for the specific area of ministry they represent.
The mission and ministry of Jesus is continued in Immaculate Conception Church through various parish committees. These include:
A. Evangelization - Education Committee (Good news witness, learning/teaching disciples)-Strive to help parishioners grow and deepen their faith,as well as promote ministries that invite and welcome into the church community inactive or alienated Catholics and non Catholics. We will achieve this through teaching the faith, organizing parish missions/retreats and faith programs centered on the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity.
B. Worship and Spirituality Committee (Praying believers) - develop opportunities and activities to help our parish and individual members experience better under standing and fuller participation in the Mass and celebrations of the ritual and sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church.
C. Communication Committee (People of God in communion) - advocates a sense of belonging among parishioners by keeping them informed of the activities, issues and events affecting the parish, and by serving as a vehicle for publicizing the activities of all parish organization.
D. Finance and Stewardship Committee (serving stewards) - promotes parishioner participation in all parish ministries and encourages parishioner stewardship of time, talent, and treasure to improve our parish for generations to come.
E. Safety and Security Committee coordinates for the protection of the parish community, staff, and physical assets. We balance operational readiness with a welcoming environment. We strive to foster and sustain a culture of vigilance, preparedness, and rapid response to physical threats/medical emergencies/weather events across all liturgies, parish ministries, and church campus operations.
